Getting Around

TRANSPORTATION

There are many ways to travel around the island, including taxis or renting a car.


Taxis are readily available on the island, usually six to eight passenger vans,

which can accommodate all your luggage and/or large groups.


There are NO ride-sharing programs in operation on Grand Cayman (i.e. Uber, Lyft), however local taxis are easily available!

If you decide to rent a car, remember to drive on the left!

CURRENCY

The local currency is the KYD (Cayman Dollar), however almost all businesses take the US dollar and all major credit cards.


The exchange rate is pegged to the US dollar at 0.82.


A base gratuity is usually added to bills at restaurants, bars and hotels.

Pharmacies are located all over the island in case you are in need of medical prescriptions or over the counter medication.

GROCERY AND LIQUOR STORES

Fosters, Kirk Market, and Cost U Less are the island's main grocery stores.


If you're staying on Seven Mile Beach area, Camana Bay Fosters will be the most accessible for you. Blackbeard liquor store is next door to Fosters.


In addition to Blackbeard's, there is also Tortuga and Jacques Scott liquor stores throughout Seven Mile area, if needed.


In Cayman, most grocery stores are not open on Sundays, except for Shop Right at The Grove that is open Sunday from 7am-7pm.
